“Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.” – Lao Tzu

Hello there, my name is Alex Binkley! I am currently in the process of getting my Bachelor’s degree at Colorado State University. My major is Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology, and conservation is both my concentration and my passion. I have done fieldwork with the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and with graduate students at CSU, and when I graduate I plan to fight habitat fragmentation and increase the public’s love for nature.

When I’m not studying or working, I am drawing, reading, playing saxophone, or (most likely) out dancing with my friends! I am currently President of both the CSU Swing Dance Society and the Geller CSU Club!

My Geller Leadership Project is the Connections Project! The Connections Project started out as a project of mine in high school in which I was trying to create a platform for volunteers to more easily work with non-profits. Through the process of interviewing the volunteer coordinators of non-profits in Greeley, I determined that creating a comprehensive platform for non-profits to interact and connect through would be more helpful. My goals for the project are to eventually have a website that has a comprehensive list of all of the non-profits in Northern Colorado and the best contact information for those organizations that’s actively kept up-to-date. This website would include a platform that allows the non-profits to interact with each other and share common resources such as vehicles, trainings, and meeting spaces. Currently, we are in the process of list creation and we are tackling this by focusing on one non-profit topic at a time.
